Introduction
The Property Team provides property services and professional real estate support, advice and strategic direction for both the House of Commons, House of Lords and Parliament’s property portfolios and major building programmes.
The Role
The post holder is responsible for assisting with the day to day and strategic asset management of a unique and complex multi-use property portfolio (both Operational and Non-Operational) comprising both freehold and leasehold assets. The post holder will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of estate management activities across both houses including formal Landlord and Tenant matters, Corporate Real Estate management and acting as Intelligent Client to third party professional services suppliers. The post holder will work within high-value programmes/project teams, on complex and sensitive property matters.
Some of the Responsibilities include:
To undertake directly or act as intelligent client for a varied professional case list including Landlord and Tenant transactions/commercial property management, service charge management, property acquisitions, disposals and day to day corporate real estate matters.
Working with external consultants on key estate initiatives such as non-domestic rates appeals, rent reviews etc
When required, to provide supervision and direction to other team members.
To communicate with stakeholders, service providers, senior officers, tenants, landlords, external agents and the public, amongst others, in all matters regarding the estate.
Skills and Experience
Essential qualifications, knowledge, skills, experience and behaviours
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
Criterion 1
Degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline (desirable)
Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (desirable)
Criterion 2
Experience of working in a relatable professional estates management role across a range of professional disciplines, including experience of commercially multi-let properties and managing multi-let buildings; the preparation, management and operation of service charge budgets; and preparing and presenting formal reports and business cases.
Criterion 3
Ability to work successfully within a team, whilst upholding the values of equality, diversity and inclusion.
