Location: Southend on Sea, Essex

Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience

Hours: Monday to Friday 9am – 5:30pm

Role Description:

This is a newly created role born out of the increased building safety requirements placed upon us via the Building Safety Act 2022 and surrounding regulations. Working as part of the property management department, the individual will have responsibility for collating, interrogating and reporting vital building safety data directly to the Head of Property Management. The successful candidate will work closely with other departments within the business as well as our external fire safety consultants.

Previous property management or building safety knowledge is not essential as full training will be given however, the role will require the candidate to undertake some extensive learning within the first 6 months so that they are familiar with the statute and regulation.

The role demands a high level of organisation as they will be dealing with large volumes of information across numerous projects. The candidate will need to be able to carefully follow existing processes and have the ability to create new practices where required.

Day to day duties will include:

• Compiling responses from leaseholder deed of certificates and reporting on findings
• Utilising above data to accurately forecast liability for remediation costs
• Obtaining updates from managing agents on building safety works, inputting the same onto the system and updating reporting
• Proactively contacting managing agents to ensure they are complying with requirements under new regulations
• Assisting with the production of Landlord certificates
• Ongoing research and study in respect of requirements under the building safety legislation
• Ensuring compliance with obligations to register buildings with the building safety regulator
• Assisting the property management team with generalise property management enquiries

The successful candidate should:

• Be highly organised and meticulous in their approach to daily tasks
• Have a good ability to communicate with others and particularly able to explain complex items in simple terms.
• Be self-motivated and confident
• Have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office and related programs
• Have good communication skills both written and verbal
• Be capable of meeting deadlines and handling large work volumes
• Be able to prioritise workloads and manage time effectively
