Building Control Inspector

MMP Consultancy is seeking a Class 2c/d Building Control Inspector on behalf of a Local Authority based in Northamptonshire. The position is initially for 3 months however is subject to extension. The rate of pay is 60ph umbrella, over a 37 hour working week from Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-application Advice: Provide expert guidance to both professionals and non-professionals in the construction field.
Plan Appraisal: Assess applications for all types of buildings, ensuring compliance with building regulations and standards.
Negotiation & Amendments: Work closely with applicants and agents to make necessary improvements, ensuring approval of applications.
Regulation Approvals: Issue approvals or rejections based on compliance with Building Regulations.
Site Surveys: Conduct thorough site inspections to ensure construction adheres to regulations and legislation.
Technical Support: Offer advice and support to applicants and builders, guiding them to comply with Building Regulations during site work.
Records Management: Document all inspections and plan assessments, minimising liability and maintaining high performance standards.
Issue Resolution: Handle contraventions of Building Regulations, including negotiations or instigating legal action when necessary.

Requirements:

Extensive knowledge of Building Regulations and allied legislation.
Strong negotiation skills with the ability to mediate and resolve complex issues.
Experience in handling site surveys, technical support, and plan vetting.
The ability to handle dangerous structures and emergency situations.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
